Did you know that all fire alarms now require a pictorial zone chart?
A diagrammatic representation of your building is vital for the fire brigade should they need to visit your premises in an emergency, this is so they know the layout of the building before they enter. The British Standard BS:5839-1:2013 states that the zone chart should show as a minimum all building entrances, circulation areas and the division into zones and should also include a ‘You Are Here’ sign so you can locate where you are in the building.

If you are not displaying a pictorial zone chart it will be flagged up as a non-conformance against the standard BS 5839-1:2013. It doesn’t matter how small or large your building is a zone plan is always required. It is important to ensure that your zone chart remains current and accurate and that zone descriptions on the panel match those written on the plan.

If you are an existing client, we will inform you if you need a zone chart and how to go about it. We are also happy to help clients that aren’t customers so call us today to find out how we can help you keep compliant.
