T.J. Fire & Security were very honoured to sponsor the fountain in the heart of Welwyn Garden City for the kick-off of the Centennial celebrations last weekend – yes Welwyn Garden City really is 100 years old this year.
The festival started on Friday 17th January 2020 with a festival of light with iconic landmarks including the fountain on Parkway lit up with magical lights, there was live music, lantern parades, school choirs along with street vendors selling food, drinks, cakes and lots of lovely treats, the weekend really was a real family celebration of 100 years in Welwyn Garden City.
We chose to sponsor the fountain because it is the iconic focal point in Welwyn Garden City having been built in 1953 to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, it was designed by Kenneth Peacock, the partner of Louis de Soissons. Louis de Soissons was the architect appointed by Welwyn Garden City to help build the town after Ebenezer Howards Success with Letchworth Garden City.
The fountain was lit up over the two days with extra water jets, multiple lights in different striking colours and the effect was stunning.
We’re very proud to have started T.J. Fire & Security in Welwyn Garden City in 1973 where we remain today. Local business is and always has been of upmost importance to us and we look forward to the next 100 years.
