Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) is what you would know as your traditional telephone system, through copper wires in the ground it allows both voice and data to be transmitted over telephone lines.
However, BT announced back in 2017 that the ISDN would be switched off by December 2025, therefore your traditional phone system and phone lines that monitor your intruder and fire alarm system will no longer work. So, if you have a fire activation the fire brigade will not be notified, neither will the police on an intruder activation.
Rest assured if you joined us within the last 3 years, we have future proofed your monitoring so you don’t need to worry. We have also notified all existing customers that this affects and are in the process of moving them away from the ISDN method of monitoring. However, if we don’t monitor your fire or intruder alarm has your existing company informed you of these changes? If not, why not – 2025 is fast approaching.
So, when is the best time to move your monitoring contract? NOW! Don’t delay and leave it to the last minute. The final bit of good news is that the ISDN way of monitoring was expensive as you had to pay for a dedicated phone line on a monthly line rental. By moving the monitoring away from ISDN lines, you make an immediate cost saving month on month.
Why not contact us to see if we can help you move your monitoring to us from your current supplier, we guarantee we’ll be cheaper.
Once you’ve future proofed your monitoring, you’ll want to consider your landlines and broadband etc as these won’t work when ISDN is switched off. We recommend a trusted provider you can get a no obligation quotation from, and they can help you independently for all your telephony requirements. Please let us know and we’d be happy to pass their details over to get you switched over for your calls as well before you get caught short.
